John Ratchford

John's legal background is primarily in commercial litigation. His public and government affairs experience were gained serving as Counsel to the Premier of Ontario Ernie Eves, Chief of Staff to the Deputy Premier Elizabeth Witmer, Campaign Press Secretary and Director of Media Events to Nova Scotia Premier John Hamm, and Project Manager for the former Ontario Minister of Energy's Energy Rates Project.

Before joining Ensight, John directed a corporate acquisition project for a major mobile telephone company in Prague, Czech Republic, Oskar Mobil a.s., with particular emphasis on the communications and branding aspects of the transaction.

John practiced law with a leading law firm in Halifax Nova Scotia, Stewart McKelvey Stirling Scales, before coming to Toronto in 2000 to practice with one of Canada's largest law firms, Gowlings LLP.

John has served on numerous political campaigns, and as a member of the boards of directors of the Arthritis Society (N.S.), the United Way (Halifax), the Parkinson Society (N.S.), and as a member of the executive of the Nova Scotia PC Party.

John received his Hon. Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia, and his LL.B. from the University of New Brunswick. He was called to the bar in Nova Scotia in 1995 and in Ontario in 2000. He is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada.
